We take training seriously
Goodwill Industries’ training program focuses on the individual employee, his/her job function, growth potential and interest within the organization. Our training program is designed to ensure that employees are knowledgeable in all phases of their job. We require our staff to pass tests with a minimum score of 70% to ensure competency in their job knowledge and skills.
Employees receive training in various settings including lectures, videos, one-on-one, demonstrations, e-learning, and on-the-job. All full-time employees receive a minimum of 72 hours of training annually.
Goodwill Industries employs a full-time training coordinator to administer and monitor training of our personnel. The training coordinator conducts all safety-related training including hazard communication; blood-borne pathogens; asbestos awareness; fire, electrical and chemical safety, etc. Additionally, our training coordinator conducts initial training of our process and procedures.
Managers and supervisors must also participate in an internal core curriculum training program which includes leadership training, ethics, priority management, preventing harassment, professional image, and performance evaluation.
We encourage all managers to obtain their certification in Housekeeping management. This 320-hour program is sponsored by the International Executive Housekeepers Association, Inc.
